The Ghana Boundary Commission jointly organised a sensitisation programme with the National Boundary Commission of la Côte d’Ivoire on 16 May 2023, for the Ghanaian community living along the international maritime boundary at Grand Bassam in Cote d’Ivoire.
The exercise formed part of the three day Joint Technical Committee meeting between Ghana and la Cote d’Ivoire held in Grand Bassam. The aim of the exercise was to increase awareness about Ghana’s shared land and maritime boundaries with la Cote d’Ivoire.
Addressing the community, the National Coordinator of the Ghana Boundary Commission, Major General Kotia, emphasised the need for Ghanaian residents at the border community of Grand Bassam to respect the international land and maritime boundaries in order to enhance cross-border cooperation.
The Executive Secretary of the National Boundary Commission of la Côte d’Ivoire, Mr. Diakalidia Konate expressed satisfaction at the conduct of Ghanaian residents living in Grand Bassam and encouraged them to be proactive in communicating any anomalies they may encounter as they go about their normal business as fisherfolks.
In attendance were the Traditional Council and Community Leaders of the Ghanaian Community living in Grand Bassam-Cote d’Ivoire.
