Field Research in three border communities; Saru and Dollar Power in the Savannah Region as well as Dorimon in the Upper West Region – 2nd September 2024

The Ghana Boundary Commission with support from the GIZ Project on Mitigating the Destabilising Effects of Transnational Organised Crime (MTOC) has commenced a field research to identify issues around Illicit Economic Activities and Alternative sustainable livelihoods in three border communities; Saru and Dollar Power in the Savannah Region as well as Dorimon in the Upper West Region.
The field research will involve community engagements through Focus Group Discussions and meetings with key stakeholders including traditional leaders, border security agencies and Civil Society Organisations.
The research team from GhBC is led by Mr. John Tsotorvor, Director of Research.

Researchers from the Ghana Boundary Commission undertook a mission to Dorimon in the Upper West Region of Ghana as part of a field research under the “Support to the Mitigation of Destabilising Effects of Transnational Organised Crime (M-TOC)” Project, funded by GIZ. The research which focuses on three communities (Saru, Dollar Power and Dorimon) will identify illicit economic activities and alternative livelihood opportunities.
The team led by Mr. John Tsotorvor, Director of Research, paid a courtesy call on the District Chief Executive of the area, Hon Vida Diorotey to brief her on the field research. The team also paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Dorimon Traditional Area, Naa Alhaji Seidu Tungbani Salinbile II, as part of community entry formalities.
The researchers held discussions with various sections of the community including women, men and youth groups.
This research is a prelude to the launch of a community sensitization initiative on Transnational Organised Crime.
