Office of the Commissioner General
The Office of the Commissioner General oversees the performance and overall management of the Commission. Led by the Commissioner General and his deputy, the Office provides strategic leadership, and provide technical and managerial direction towards the achievement of the mandate of the Commission. Under the Office of the Commissioner General lies the Legal and Policy, Plans and Programmes departments.
Policy, Plans and Programmes
Policy, Plans and Programmes Department is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the development, management and implementation of plans, policies and programmes of the Commission. It is also tasked with facilitating stakeholder engagements with the Commission’s partners for the purpose of leveraging funds, programmes and strategic partnerships for the Commission. The department also responsible for projecting the image of the Commission and also overseeing regular monitoring and evaluation of all activities of the Commission.
Boundary Operations
The Boundary Operations Department is responsible for undertaking/implementing programmes, projects and activities in coordination with government agencies towards demarcating the land boundaries of Ghana. The Boundary Operations department is also responsible for conducting regular surveillance of Ghana’s boundary pillars and patrol routes, using intelligence from Ghana Immigration service patrol teams, and other security services at the local community level.
Research
The Research Department is responsible for all research activities/products including research analysis, policy briefs and reports, threat assessments, and field evidence based reports that advice and inform the Commission’s choices. The Research department also collaborates with other research institutions to produce relevant research products and host stakeholder engagements on research findings and analysis for better governance and government decision making on boundary related issues
Survey and Delimitation
The Survey and Delimitation Department is responsible for the technical and operational work on land boundary surveying and mapping, maritime boundary delimitation and boundary data activities of the Commission. The Survey and Delimitation department handles the task of developing a database and inventory for all boundary pillars and coordinates, and ensuring proper documentation of Ghana’s borderlines in accordance with international law
Administration
The Administration department provides support services to the Commission and for the effective performance of various departments of the Commission. Under the leadership of its director, the Administration department is responsible for the human resource management, knowledge management, procurement, external and internal relations, performance management and proper functioning of the Commission’s systems and personnel.
Finance
The Finance Section is responsible for keeping accounts, superintend financial transactions and generally oversee the financial management system of the Commission according to acceptable national standards.
Legal
The Legal Section is responsible for providing legal and technical support for the effective management of land and maritime legal matters of the Commission
